Key contributors to the excellent result were the building companies (Norwest Holst, Crispin & Borst and Weaver), VINCI Investments and McGill Services.
The Group also booked a significant profit on the disposal of McGill which was completed in December 2007. The sale of McGill was a further step in the Company’s strategy to focus on its key activities of building, civil engineering, fit out and maintenance.
The acquisition early in 2008 of regional contractors, Stradform and Gordon Durham, continued the implementation of VINCI PLC’s strategy to develop a network of well established regional contractors throughout England and Wales. The acquisitions have boosted the order book and, despite the more difficult market conditions, the Group should see further growth in turnover in 2008.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for the valuable contribution you have made to the success of the Company throughout 2007 and for your continued support in the year ahead.
John Stanion
Chairman & Chief Executive
