VINCI Construction UK has developed a Building Information Modelling strategy to support its business and Clients, which unlocks value through the collaborative use of BIM and Integrated Project Delivery (IPD).
The early adoption of BIM and an agreement to share and re-use information in a project maximises the benefits, which can be achieved in reducing risk and improving cost certainty.
We promote the use of open standards and information sharing to facilitate the full involvement of the project team and all stakeholders.
Training and guidance form a key part of our BIM and collaborative working strategy.
Building Information Modelling (BIM) Support
Our core BIM team provides support to our internal business, Clients and other stakeholders in managing, creating and utilising BIM data on a project. We are able to create coordinated and semantically rich 3D models for use at various stages of the design and construction process. With such support from the core team, BIM can deliver benefits on a strategic, operational and technical level.
Use of Standards
BS1192:2007 “Collaborative production of architectural, engineering and construction information” is the cornerstone to supporting IPD, where information can be shared from design through to handover and beyond.
In addition, the use of the Construction Operations Building information exchange (COBie) standard is a vehicle for sharing predominantly non-graphic data about a facility and ensures that a Client as owner, operator and occupier receives the information in as a complete and useful form as possible.
Clash detection, 4D construction simulation, light and energy analysis, scheduling and visualisation are some of the capabilities that are derived benefits from well structured and coordinated design and construction data.
