The South East region of Crispin & Borst (part of VINCI Construction UK Limited) has been awarded a £4.4 million contract by Medway Council to construct a three-storey extension at the new Medway Park regional centre of sporting excellence in Gillingham, Medway, Kent.
The extension will include changing rooms and two floors of health and fitness suites. A purpose built link building, fully compliant with DDA requirements, will provide access between all areas of the new and existing facilities.
The extension will also include a new international standard multi-purpose sports hall with an emphasis on badminton (12 courts) and disabled participants. This will be designed in accordance with Sport England and Badminton England requirements. A viewing facility into the existing sports hall will also be provided.
Medway Council intends to use the premises as a training facility for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games as well as providing a sporting and community legacy from the games for Medway residents.
