VINCI Construction UK Successfully Completes Upgrade Works at Bamford WTW during 24 Hour Shutdown

VINCI Construction UK is carrying out enhancements to the existing Water Treatment Works (WTW) at Bamford in Derbyshire for Severn Trent Water. The overall value of the scheme is approximately £25 million which is the combined value of three individual projects being carried out in Joint Venture with Biwater Treatment Ltd. The aims of the scheme are to address the forthcoming issues of climate change and also to ensure reliability of the process and its controls.

A major landmark in the project has recently been successfully reached following the insertion of a 1200mm valve during a 24 hour shutdown period. The shutdown consisted of reducing the flow through the WTW to allow one of the two outlet mains to be isolated. The timescale for the shutdown and completion of the valve insertion were vital so as not to disrupt the supply of water into Severn Trent’s supply network.

Commenting on the 24 hour shutdown, Bill Hinchcliffe, Programme Manager for Severn Trent Water, said:
“The joint venture team should be congratulated on the successful completion of these shutdown works which is testament to the professionalism and collaboration demonstrated by the supply chain throughout both the planning and execution.”
